HEALING. A religious and faith crisis can hinder the very foundation of our being, cause us to question our identity, and keep us trapped in an endless loop of "what ifs." Going through a faith crisis can be haunting, especially when faced with fear-ridden statements like eternal damnation, you will go to hell, and God is very disappointed; all of these statements can be daunting, especially if you've lived your entire life thinking that God will only love you if you fall in line with what your religion tells you to do. I woke up at almost 40 years old, thinking that I had everything: the marriage, the house, the car, and the career, which were all built on the foundation of my high-demand religion. Realizing that it was a thick fog of denial, I learned to bury any sense of who I was on the inside to appease a bunch of strangers and fall in line. I spiritually bypassed my way through life, and the catalyst for my crisis sent me to the pits of despair, going back and forth and never finding the answers within the walls of my religion. My body knew with every desperate act to get my old life back, my body would send me convulsing and repulsed at the very thought of pretending to be something I wasn't. My last desperate act of hope, I gulped in a breath of fear-ridden air as I stepped into the unknown.
