Description
This course aims to provide learners with solid foundation for understanding and expressing numbers in Japanese.After teaching Japanese to numerous students who are new to the language in various contexts, I've developed unique strategic approach. That involves starting with counting numbers using multi-sensory apparatus. This approach establishes familiar foundation, preparing learners for smoother progression into more complex language skills, such as literacy. It puts learners in a good position, providing them with confidence and facilitating deeper understanding as they progress in their Japanese language learning journey.In this course, learners will engage in a variety of interactive activities designed to enhance their understanding of Japanese counting.You will be encouraged to use their own fingers to mimic counting down from 10 to 1, fostering kinesthetic approach that reinforces the concept and engages learners physically.Additionally, visual representations, such as dot patterns, will be utilized to further reinforce the concepts taught in the course.These dynamic learning methods help learners not only memorize the fundamentals of Japanese counting but also develop deeper understanding and retention of the material.Printable materials, which I use to demonstrate counting bigger numbers systematically, will be offered as a takeaway in a later lecture.The key words for this course are small-steps and explicit.As you explore this learning adventure, you'll discover the joy of counting in Japanese while building confidence in your new language skills.Upon completion, you'll not only be able to confidently count in Japanese but also have deeper appreciation for the language.
